Week Two of the Regular Season Will Be Just as Exciting as Week One

Week 2 of the regular season is just a couple of days away and I am very excited. Granted I get excited when preseason starts but regular season is when it all matters. Week 1 was very interesting with multiple injuries, questionable calls and surprising losses.

I am particularly excited about Sunday’s games because my New England Patriots are playing the New York Jets. I am being brave and going to watch the game with my friend who is from New York, and yes is a HUGE Jets fan. I am a little scared because last time I went to watch a Patriots vs. Jets game, chairs were flying across the room. But since the Jets lost their first game and Kris Jensen is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, I am not too worried that the Patriots will win. USA Today is calling this “the game to watch,” and I have to agree.

Brett Favre couldn’t connect with his players and as one of the announcers said “It looks like they haven’t practiced with each other at all.” Really? Brett waited till right before the final preseason game to make his decision about coming back to play and in that game he only made 4 plays. So yeah, I wasn’t too shocked that they lost.  Coach Brad Childress seems pretty optimistic that even though Brett looked tired at the end of last week’s game, he will return to the good ole Brett in no time. I am not holding my breath.

My picks for this week are:
Green Bay Packers vs. Buffalo Bills- As a Wisconsin girl I am naturally going to pick Green Bay, even though I am a Patriots fan. (Don’t ask me to explain.) But anyone looking at the Packers this year will likely pick them to win. Many sports analysts are even picking them to win The Super Bowl. Aaron Rodgers has really stepped up and made this team his.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Cincinnati Bengals- I am picking Cincinnati on this one, even though most are picking the Ravens. Let’s face it the Bengals weren’t going to win last week against New England. My boys Tom Brady and Wes Welker are on fire. Hopefully T.O. and Ochocinco can win this one.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Tennessee Titans- This one is tough for me to pick but I am going with the Steelers. They didn’t have that great of a preseason but last week they took the win in overtime against the Falcons. And the Titans shouldn’t be overly excited about that win against the Raiders, because well it is the Raiders.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Detroit Lions- Philadelphia Eagles, really this a no brainer

Chicago Bears vs. Dallas Cowboys- Dallas Cowboys, even though I was unimpressed with their performance last week against the Redskins. Hopefully Tony and the boys watched the films and improved their game.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers- Carolina Panthers, I just have always had a soft spot for the Panthers.

Arizona Cardinals vs. Atlanta Falcons- Arizona Cardinals take this one. They did have the win last week but struggled a bit. I am hoping the new QB Derek Anderson can take charge of this team and get them to the playoffs.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Cleveland Browns- Kansas City wins even though the Browns are playing their home opener, I don’t think they can pull of a win.

Miami Dolphins vs. Minnesota Vikings- I am still undecided on this one. I think the Vikings can do it but after the very poor performance last week against the Saints, I am not to sure. Brett wasn’t connecting at all with his team, but hopefully with 10 days of practice they are now in sync.

Seattle Seahawks vs. Denver Broncos- Seahawks will win. As a Cali girl for the past six years I have become immersed into the California sports teams, so I am very excited that Coach Carroll is now the head coach in Seattle. He is an amazing coach and I am rooting for him.

St. Louis Rams vs. Oakland Raiders- I am taking the Rams even though my friend John would be upset because for whatever reason he is a HUGE Raiders fan. Neither team is great but one of them has to win.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. San Diego Chargers- San Diego wins it, they are playing at home, what else needs to be said.

Houston Texans vs. Washington Redskins- Houston will win. This is another team I have always had a soft spot for and know they are going to do big things.

New York Giants vs. Indianapolis Colts- Colts take it, even though they will play the Patriots later in the season, I want them to win. I personally think this is the game to watch on Sunday because the Manning brothers will be battling it out for the win.

New Orleans Saints vs. San Francisco 49ers- New Orleans are going to stomp on the 49ers. The Saints are still on their Super Bowl win high and their win against Minnesota last week. They aren’t going to let up anytime soon.
